Young Musician of the Year now in its 12 th year!
Young Musicians step right up, it’s that time of the year again where the Griffith Musician’s club is on the search for Griffith’s cream of the crop. “Previous recipients have been given a big step up with this award and been motivated to bigger and better things. They gain exposure and opportunities that enable them to further advance themselves in the music industry. Last years winner Harriet Kelly is a fine example of that. Harriet used the cash prize to gain professional singing lessons. She attended Tamworth country music academy and entered in several competitions, placing 2 nd in the Aristocrat entertainer of the year. She won the Coca cola battle of the young stars which then entitled her to perform in the Champion of Champions which she won. She has been asked to sing with Luke Oshea and Casey Chambers. The young Musician of the Year Award has become a very important activity for the club and is well supported by all its members who are keen to see the next lot of up and coming musicians. This exposure has also allowed some of the new talent to play with some of the already successful established bands”
“We welcome any teenage musician or vocalist from within a specified radius of Griffith to enter this award, said Mr Michael Pfitzner president of GMC. We have a very rigorous judging process with experienced musicians who play a broad range of music and instruments on the judging panel. We are looking not just for formally trained musicians and vocalists but for any young talent that Griffith has to offer. Contestants are encouraged to supply video of their performing skills as part of their applications. The winner will take home $1,000 cash from the Griffith musicians club. Runners up also receive a cash prize all of which happens at the prestigious Young Musician of the Year presentation night held at the Regional Theatre 10 th April. Entries close 6th March.
